1985 Egyptian Pharaoh Rally winner, 959 (390 PS, 1185 kg), Saeed Al Hajri / John Spiller. Porsche used the bi-turbo engine for the first time (in 1985 Paris-Dakar Rally the 959 had normally aspirated engine from 911).
1977 Le Mans was won by #4 Martini Racing Porsche 936/77 (Jürgen Barth, Hurley Haywood, Jacky Ickx, 342 laps). The #3 936/77 didn't finish (Jacky
Ickx, Henri Pescarolo, 45 laps). Porsche won with extraordinary driving efforts by Jacky Ickx. His #3 car (chassis 002) that had won in 1976, broke down,
so Ickx joined Haywood and Barth in the team's #4 car (chassis 001). A broken engine nearly halted the Porsche 936/77 in the last hour. The mechanics
removed the ignition and injection of the failed cylinder and the smoking car limped around the track to finish after 24 hours and 11 laps in front
of the second place Mirage-Renault.
