MB & Audi produced by Porsche
Updated 12.08.2006![]() The Mercedes-Benz 500E was developed by Porsche and produced in Zuffenhausen between 1991 and 1994. The body was built at Porsche, painting done at Mercedes and the rest of the car completed again at Porsche, so that a full 18 days was used to build a car. By the fans, E500 is almost considered as the first 4-door Porsche or simply a family car for a Porsche enthusiast. Predecessors to the 4-door Porsches, the Mercedes-Benz E500 and Audi RS2 were produced by Porsche in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen. ![]() Within the framework of a working group, Audi and Porsche together developed a high-performance sport station wagon under the name “Audi RS2” in 1993 (production run from 1994 to 1995). The car had Porsche brakes, wheels and mirrors. The 2.2-litre turbo engine modified by Porsche produced 315hp. A total of 2891 cars were built by Porsche in Zuffenhausen. |
