Gearbox: PDK automatic (7-speed)
Acceleration: 3.2 sec. 0-100 km/h
Top speed: 320+ km/h (150 km/h with electric drive only)

The V8 combustion engine is a further development of the highly successful 3.4-litre power unit featured in the RS Spyder racing car.

A button on the steering wheel allows the driver to choose among four different running modes.
E-Drive: for running the car under electric power alone, with a range of up to 25 km (16 miles).
Hybrid: uses both the electric motors and the V8.
Sport Hybrid: uses both drive systems, but with the focus on performance. Most of the drive power goes to the rear wheels, with Torque Vectoring serving to additionally improve the car’s driving dynamics.
Race Hybrid: the drive systems are focused on pure performance (for race track).
With the battery sufficiently charged, a push-to-pass button feeds in additional electrical power (E-Boost), for example when overtaking or for even better performance.

On July 28, 2010, the supervisory board of Porsche AG gave the green light for series development of the Porsche 918 Spyder. On March 21, 2011, Porsche started taking orders. 918 will be produced at the Porsche's main factory in Stuttgart (for comparison, the Carrera GT was produced in Leipzig, with only the engine made in Stuttgart). Deliveries are scheduled to start November 2013.

The name 918 is probably due to the Porsche running out of the 9xx numbers and because Porsche 917 was the most powerful Porsche and most powerful racing car ever produced. So 918 is the perfect name for the new absolute top weapon.

What we think
Just S U P E R ! Except no manual gearbox offered... But fortunately Porsche has produced enough manual gearbox cars over the years, so our generation will not run out of the cars made for passionate driving.
