997 GTS is basically a 997 S mk2 with X51 powerkit and wider body. A recipe for the perfect 911 has always been rear wheel drive, manual gearbox and powerful engine - and wider body takes it even further! Plus it has the alcantara interior similar to GT3 and GT2. If you like the lightweight normally aspirated rear wheel drive GT3, but have small kids, this is probably the right Porsche for you. It is as universal as the 911 Turbo - very good for everyday and very good for the race track use. Of course the 911 Turbo is a quicker 4-seater, but then you have to spend one Boxster on top of the GTS and then the Turbo still comes with the 911's useless 4WD, which the afficionados prefer to skip. So you see, the 911 GTS is exactly what we have been waiting for. Except it should have been called just the 911 Carrera S X51. If you will buy it, then you will be very surprised - the GTS is cheaper than the Carrera S X51! And now if you consider, you get the single-bolt wheels, alcantara interior and sports seats all for free - it is mind blowing! The Carrera S with the same equipment as GTS would cost approximately 14.500 EUR+VAT more and it would have narrow body. So, with GTS you get wider body, the GTS badges and save 14.500 EUR+VAT if you choose it instead of the similarly equipped Carrera S.

As you can see from the table, the maximum torque of 420 Nm is unchanged compared to the Carrera S, but it is available at 200 rpm earlier, at 4.200 rpm. Due to the wider body, the top speed of the 997 GTS is 1 km/h slower than of the 997 S mk2 with X51 WLS powerkit.

GTS Cabriolet sounds a bit like GT3 Cabriolet, which sounds like nonsense, but the GTS cabrio is really something special. It is quite normal, that you like both the weekend track day and open top driving. Or both together. If you aren't still sure about the idea, think of it as a 997 Speedster. Yes, everybody likes GTS Cabriolet!

The 997 GTS Cabriolet is the most powerful rear wheel drive open-top Porsche

SportDesign nose is available also for other Carreras

Different side sills and black-painted centre-mounted RS Spyder wheels come as standard

The 5-bolt 19" Carrera Sport wheels are available at no extra cost if you prefer them to single-bolt racing wheels

The GTS Coupé comes as a 2-seater in standard, but you can get the rear seats for free if you wish. We suggest to take them, because if you don't need the rear seats, we would start convincing you to buy GT3.

What we think: Thumbs up!
997 GTS is what the 997 S should have always been - a more powerful 911 Carrera WITH WIDER BODY. 997 Carrera GTS is defenetely the best buy among all the 911 Carreras ever built!

What are you waiting - go get your one!
