Porsche 911 996 GT3 RS 2004
3.6L 381 hp, 385 Nm, max. rpm 8200, 4.4 sec. 0-100 km/h, 306 km/h, 1360 kg

996 GT3 RS was a homologation model in accordance with the 2004 international GT rules. So a minimum of 200 cars had to be produced.

The RS is 20 kg lighter than the GT3 and 50 kg lighter than the GT3 with ClubSport (CS) package. The RS has the ClubSport package (roll cage etc.) in standard. The weight of the 996 GT3 RS with full tank of fuel (90 L) is 1360 kg.

RS has a single-mass flywheel with a lower rotating mass than the double-mass version in regular GT3.

Although, the "RS"-effect here is mainly cosmetic compared to the regular GT3, the initially whopping price difference of around 20.000 EUR was worth it as on the used car market the 996 GT3 RS models are at least 20.000 EUR more expensive compared to the regular 381 hp GT3's.

The 996 GT3 RS was not offered in North America (USA and Canada). The reason was probably the same like with th 959 in 1987 when Porsche decided not to sell the model in US because US authorities demanded 4 vehicles to be given to them for the crash tests. Porsche has made its comprehensive crash tests and to sacrifice 2% of the total production to just one country's traffic authorities is not realistic.

All cars came in white, with the inscriptions in red or blue.

An air collector under the rear wing supply more air to the engine at high speeds, so that the RS reaches its maximum power output even more easily than the regular GT3.
