996 GT1 (race version) was the last Le Mans 24H winner for Porsche. It was back in 1998. After that Porsche switched to 4-door car development. Porsche fanatics will never forget it and never forgive it. At least the man that destroyed Porsche - Wendelin Wiedeking - was finally fired in summer 2009.

Note the pre-airbag 964 (1989-1991) dashboard in a 996.
