Porsche 911 993 Turbo, Turbo S, Turbo Cabriolet
1995-1998 911 993 Turbo Cabriolet 3.6L single-turbo 360 hp In 1995 Porsche did a very unusual thing (because of financial reasons, we guess) - before introducing the all new 4WD twin-turbo 911 993 Turbo Coupé in 1995, Porsche Exclusive produced some 993 Turbo Cabriolets on the basis of 993 Carrera Cabrios. This car was not officially marketed. After the G-model 911 Turbo Cabrio (1987-89), Porsche never officially offered an air-cooled Turbo convertible again. However, in 1995 14 units of 993 Turbo Cabriolets were manufactured before the introduction of the 993 Turbo Coupé. The Turbo Cabrios featured the 360 hp single-turbo engine of the 964 Turbo 3.6, a 5-speed manual transmission, RWD and the wing of the 964 Turbo S. This required a premium of DM 89,500 (or plus 62 %) over the standard 993 Cabriolet´s price. ![]() ![]() ![]() 911 993 Turbo Coupé 3.6L twin-turbo 408 hp / 430 & 450 hp with factory powerkits (WerksLeistungSteugerung, WLS) This was the first 911 Turbo to have 4WD. Porsche enthusiasts never liked the 4WD because a rear-engined car doesn't need it (it just ads weight) and because it is an electronical system, which is not a permanent 4WD and not understandable to the driver. 993 is the last air-cooled 911. It has the best design among all 911's from 1963 until nowadays. Porsche has not managed to make better looking 911 after it made 993. Many Porsche enthusiasts consider 993 the best 911, and the 993 Turbo the best looking Porsche and best looking car in the world. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 993 Turbo being lackered on the same line with a Boxster ![]() 911 993 Turbo S 3.6L twin-turbo 450 hp ![]() Different nose, yellow brake callipers plus cooling air intakes on rear side panel ![]() Different rear wing and twin double exhaust pipes 6314 units of 993 Turbos were built between April 1995 and March 1998.
