Interesting to know: In 1933 Mercedes introduced the Mercedes 380 cabriolet, in 1934 the 500 K and in 1936 the 540 K. The cars were produced in many different chassis and body versions (roadster + different cabriolets). So it is not so easy to say, how should an original car look and how different is the replica. Some buyers bought only the chassis without the body and the body was made by separate coachbuilder.
Today the original Mercedes-Benz 500K/540K roadster may cost as much as 1.000.000 EUR.

German company GFG produced the 540 K Spezial-Roadster replica from the mid-eighties until 1991 and called it Elisar. The mechanical parts were used from new Mercedes-Benz cars. So in terms of performance and handling, the replica is even better than the original.
